Eddie Garrick is a kind man who has rejected Christmas because of a horrible event in his early years. Eddie brings his nine-year-old daughter Charlotte to work with him on Christmas Eve at the request of his estranged wife Allison Garrick. There, they run into Nick, an enigmatic man dressed in a red suit. Eddie, a social worker, believes the man is crazy and needs help from a professional, but after he incites the wrath of a local politician, he and his daughter go on a fantastical journey that might just make him believe in Christmas again.
