Although it's the twenty-first century, Percy Jackson, a high school student, has encountered various monsters and the gods of Mount Olympus outside of the pages of his Greek mythology textbooks. They're not pleased either because Percy is the main suspect in the theft of Zeus' lightning bolt. The sudden disappearance of Percy's mother is even more concerning. Percy and his friends set out on a cross-country journey to find the real lightning thief, save Percy's mother, and solve a mystery greater than the gods themselves as he finds himself torn between enraged and warring gods.
